The Liberal Democrats increased our share of the national vote in the local elections on 4th June

Thank you for your support in last week's elections. Across the country, the Lib Dems achieved a record high vote share of 28 per cent and beat Labour into third place. We won almost three times as many council seats as Labour (484 Liberal Democrat councillors to Labour's 178) and added Bristol to the list of major cities run by Liberal Democrats that also includes Cardiff, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield and Edinburgh. In the Euro elections, the Lib Dems gained an MEP, and have representation in every Region in England.

The results of the Euro elections in the Borough of Barnet were:

Conservative 38.84%

Labour 18.93%

Liberal Democrats 11.06%

Greens 9.87%

UKIP 9.36%

In the by-elections, in Edgware the result was:

Conservative 2953

Labour 1036

Liberal Democrats 688

In Totteridge, the results were:

Conservative 2837

Liberal Democrats 792

Labour 699
