The Barnet Liberal Democrats have paid tribute to Diana Iwi, our longest serving activist, who passed away shortly after her 92nd birthday.  Diana had been a stalwart for both the Barnet Liberals and Liberal Democrats for over 60 years

All the work that Diana put in over these years helped secure the election of the first Liberal/SDP Alliance councillors in 1986 and the subsequent power sharing with Labour between 1994 and 2002.

Diana's tireless commitment was recognised with the Harriet Smith Liberal Democrat Distinguished Service Award in 2012 which Tim Fallon, the party President at the time, presented at the Annual Conference. He commented that she has been active in the party longer than even the people who nominated her can remember. Amongst the condolences, Sean Hooker, Barnet Liberal Democrat Chair,  described Diana as a legend and former Chair Sachin Patel  said "Diana was as stalwart. Never short of opinions, never short of generosity".
