Whetstone By-Election

2 May 2025
Luig Bille

Here's Luigi's introduction to you:

"I am a London-based architect living in the borough of Barnet since 2005. I was born in Messina (IT) and I am proud to be a European living in the UK. I have studied in Italy, the US and the UK, experiencing the benefits of open and democratic cultures. I am involved in community volunteering and in 2015 and 2022 I was elected as a UK Councillor of the General Council of Italians Abroad (CGIE), representing around 700,000 Italians living in the UK; the fourth-largest ethnic minority.

POLITICAL INTERESTS

I believe in the value of individualism within a rational social structure, and in the ability to think and act with intrinsic motivation, self-determination, responsibility, justice, tolerance and solidarity. I have an in-depth knowledge of the institutions and the political system at all levels and gained expertise in dealing with budgets managements and economic and territorial planning policies. I am very passionate about locality and the power of communities and I do my upmost to contribute to the vast reservoir of ideas, skill, innovation, long-term commitment and passion that lives in our neighbourhoods in and around the London Borough of Barnet.

With this in mind and if elected as your local Councillor, I will work with local residents, community groups, businesses and other organisations, to agree and deliver on local priorities and provide policies proposals aimed to solutions to the big economic, social and environmental challenges we are facing. I am sure I can deliver for the residents of Whetstone and Barnet with my ability and professional attitude to deal and manage with policies solutions on school education and adult learning, economic growth, business support, local health care, community safety and crime reduction, planning, housing and regeneration, parks, playgrounds and open spaces, refuse and recycling, transport, street safety, community cohesion, supporting vulnerable people, climate and environment, arts, libraries, museums and heritage sites.
